Has Design Lost Its Way?

Has the focus of product design quietly shifted over time — and have we even noticed?

In today’s landscape, it’s easy to get swept up in the current. Trends come and go at lightning speed. Teams scramble to deliver, often jumping to conclusions, embracing surface-level aesthetics, and chasing quick wins. Somewhere along the way, product design — once a thoughtful, human-centered craft — has started to lose its deeper purpose.

I don’t buy into that.

I believe product design is not mere decoration — though aesthetic appearance is crucial for succes. While the market may be a race, product design at its core is certainly not a shallow tool to generate fleeting attention. As a creative designer who helps transform businesses, I choose a solid, purpose-driven path — one built on core values, long-term vision, and meaningful impact.

I will continue to:

  • Define opportunities and bring vision and ideas into efficient, tangible action.
  • Plan design solutions with true market fit and competitive strength.
  • Design products that genuinely align with people’s desires and needs, tailored for intuitive, seamless user experiences.

Good product design solves real problems. It shapes behavior, builds trust, and leaves a lasting impression.
It’s not about chasing what’s fashionable — it’s about building what matters.

If design has lost its way, maybe it’s because we’ve let it.
If so we can choose to steer it back.

The question now is:
– Are we brave and bold enough to be thorough, go deeper, and design with purpose again?

Design isn’t decoration – it’s communication.

If design isn’t speaking clearly, it’s not working.
